Mubiru hopes to build on K'la victory over Cosmos de Bafia

KCC coach Abdallah Mubiru is confident they will complete the job in Cameroon and progress to the next round of the CAF Champions League in a fortnight.

The Ugandan champions carry a one-goal advantage to West Africa following a narrow 1-0 preliminary round victory over Cosmos de Bafia on Saturday in Kampala knowing just a point or even a 2-1 defeat will see them through.

Herman Wasswa scored the lone goal of the match with six minutes to go, but KCC were far from inspiring. The hosts also had goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi to thank for his two brilliant one-on-one stops in the first half.

While Mubiru admits they were far from convincing, the KCC coach – who was taking charge of his first continental game as head coach - believes the result should serve as an impetus to sealing the deal in Yaoundé.

“Of course in sports you can never be perfect,” he said, “But I’m pleased with my players’ determination and attitude. First win at home and this is something we can build on away.”

Saturday’s win was KCC’s first home continental victory since they moved such games from Nakivubo at the end of the last decade.
