Mexico boss Herrera confident ahead of Brazil clash

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has said that his side do have a chance of beating hosts Brazil on Tuesday after seeing them defeat Cameroon in their opening match, the Daily Mail has reported.

Despite scraping through qualification, the Mexicans produced an impressive performance to make a fine start in their attempts to reach the knockout stages for the sixth consecutive World Cup.

The Indomitable Lions rarely threatened, and they now face an uphill task with Croatia and Brazil to come.

The Aztecs were the better side for long spells, but were left frustrated for an hour after having two goals incorrectly ruled out before half time, with former Tottenham man Giovani Dos Santos the unlucky player on both occasions.

However, top qualifying scorer Oribe Peralta was on hand to grab the winner when Dos Santos’ shot was saved by Charles Itandje.

After the game, Herrera declared that he was excited ahead of the game against Brazil, and praised his side’s performance. He said: 'The team did great work.

'We need to work, now we are at the top with three points. We will go out to win the next game, we are more excited than ever. We will concentrate on what we have to do.'
