Mauritania are set to for what has been billed as one of the most important fixture's in their history, when they host Cameroon in a 2017 African Cup on Friday.

Les Mourabitones are two wins away from qualifying for what will be their first ever Afcon tournament.

The desert nation sit one point behind group M leader Cameroon after four rounds of fixtures, and know that back-to-back wins over the Indomitable Lions and South Africa will seal their place at next year's showpiece in Gabon.

Mauritania will be counting on Moulaye Ahmed for inspiration, the attacker scored in home wins over Bafana Bafana and Gambia.

They, though, will have to do without star player Guidileye Diallo for the clash. The midfielder has failed to arrive in the Mauritanian capital.

Two successive draws has rooted Cameroon to the top of the standings. The Indomitable Lions, under the guidance of Hugo Broos, have lacked a cutting edge, but a narrow 3-2 defeat to France at the start of the week will serve as a real confidence booster.

Vincent Aboubakar and Maxim Choupo-Moting were on the score sheet for the four time Afcon champions.

The reverse fixture in Yaoundé last June ended in a narrow 1-0 win for Cameroon.

Kick-off at the Stade Olympique in Nouakchott is scheduled for 17h00 CAT.
