Manchester United and Chelsea chasing Alex Song

CHELSEA and Manchester United are both interested in signing former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song.

According to reports in Spain, the Premier League giants are keen to lure the Cameroon international back to England this summer.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim that Blues Jose Mourinho and United manager Louis van Gaal are both keen to add a holding midfielder to their squad's this summer and have made Song one of their main transfer targets.

Mundo Deportivo also claim that Barca are willing to let Song leave the Nou Camp this summer for a fee of £20m.

Barca's valuation of the player could however end Chelsea's and United's pursuit of the former Arsenal man as £20m is a lot of money to pay for a player who has only played 39 games in the last two years.

Song, 26, joined Barcelona in 2012, after a seven year spell at Arsenal.

Since joining the Catalan giants, the Cameroon international has found it difficult to break into the first team at the Nou Camp.

He has often found himself playing second fiddle to Spanish enforcer Sergio Busquets, and when he has played he has often had to fill in for centre-backs Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique.
