Lyon considering a move for Granada right-back, Allan Nyom

Granada right-back Allan Nyom has emerged as potential target for Lyon, after their manager Hubert Fournier recently noted that his team needs a more experienced player in that position.

“There is some urgency for the right-back position. Medhi Zeffane needs more work before he can be the titular player there. It would be nice to have a more experienced player alongside him.”

This has lead to speculation, both in France and Cameroon, that Lyon are now set to make a formal approach for the 26-year-old, who is contracted to Udinese, but has spent the last five seasons with Granada, who would also have a say in the matter.

Nyom has always been keen to stress that he’s settled in Granada, having married there and also becoming a father.

This was no different when he spoke to transfer gossip website, footmercato.net, though he did suggest that a move to Lyon would be an interesting proposal to consider.

“I’ve been with Granada for five years. I’m not really thinking about my future at the moment and we’ll see what happens when I get back from my holidays.

I feel good in Granada, but if there’s a great opportunity that presents itself to all parties involved, then I’ll close my eyes and go. Lyon are a good club, so yes, it might be nice. It certainly wouldn’t be bad.”

After being with Granada since 2009, Nyom is now the only remaining player at the club who rose with the team from the Segunda B4 to the Primera in consecutive seasons.

Having now made 101 appearances in the Primera, improving each campaign, he is a very popular figure amongst the fans.
