Lions rekindle hope despite dismal performance

The Indomitable Lions have defeated Thailand in a 3-2 win as part of their second friendly encounter in preparation for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The lions came from behind to grab a victory after conceding two goals in the first half; one being an own goal scored by Chedjou Aurelien at the 32nd minute.

The Thai team playing at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Thailand in front of home crowd proved more organised and offensive despite their little-known prowess in international football.

They opened scores at the 14th minute with Prakit Deeprom. Their 2-0 lead was maintained till the 40th minute when head coach Volke Finke decided to make some valuable changes in the lions’ camp.

Just before half time, sticker Benjamin Moukandjo reduced score with a tactical move bringing the scoreline to 2-1 at break time.

As play resumed, the Indomitable Lions regrouped in the second half and got two late goals; first from the popular young striker, Clinton Njie at the 76 and from newcomer, Gweni Ndassi at the 88th minute.

The match against Thailand is the second friendly encounter by the lions. Cameroon won Indonesia in their first friendly match by 1-0 with great difficulty last week.

Even with the win football fans and analyst in the country have regretted why the Cameroon national team officials scheduled matches with Indonesia, ranked even lower than Thailand by FIFA.
