Lions aren't favourites - Finke

Cameroon coach Volker Finke said that Saturday's 1-1 Africa Cup of Nations draw with Guinea proved the Indomitable Lions should not have been considered favourites in an extremely tight Group D.

The Cameroonians, who drew 1-1 with Mali in their opening match, struck first against Guinea this weekend when Benjamin Moukandjo scored direct from a corner.

However, Guinea restored parity shortly before half-time courtesy of Ibrahima Traore's accurate drive to leave all four teams in the group level on two points each ahead of the final round of group matches.

"I have never said that we are the favourites in this group," said the veteran German. "I knew that with the new players coming in that it would take time.

"Guinea are in front of us in the FIFA rankings, so I am just a bit surprised that people think we are the favourites."

After two draws in two games, Cameroon will now meet the Ivory Coast, while Guinea face off with Mali, in order to determine who will reach the quarter-finals in the final round of group matches next week.
