Finke welcomes revamped Lions team to Yde

The players summoned for the preliminary rounds of the CAN are expected in Yaounde today. Volker Finke, the national coach, welcomes, indeed, a group of new generation of the indomitable Lions reworked after the failure at Brazil.

The qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations 2015, with the first games scheduled to take off this September 06 in the DRC and Sep 10 in Yaounde against Côte d'Ivoire, are the new opportunities for the Lions to prove their worth even as a rebuilt team.

They will for three days work not only on the technical and tactical aspects, but also allow the entire group to adapt to this redesign project.

Volker Finke counts on them with the new captain, Stéphane Mbia and his two assistants, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Vincent Aboubakar. But however, Joël Matip has been replaced by another central defender, Brice Nlaté Ekongolo, trained at Sports-studies at Mfou and who now belongs to the Olympique de Marseille (France), Gaetan Bong, injured, is also replaced by Franck Kom (Etoile sportive du Sahel, Tunisian club).

A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday and departure for the DRC, is programmed for Thursday.

However, everything is to be redone for the indomitable Lions entering a new era with reconstruction. Volker Finke has been maintained while new assistants Alexandre Belinga and Bonaventure Djonkep have been appointed, as well as a new coach for goalkeepers in the person of Alioum Boukar. Alphonse Tchami was also named Team manager.
