Disciplinary sanctions might be imposed on certain senior players of Cameroon’s national soccer team as the Indomitable Lions are struggling hard to qualify for the African Cup of Nations (AfCON) to be held in 2017 in Gabon.

This was revealed by sources from the Cameroonian football federation (FECAFOOT).While the true nature of sanctions has not been disclosed, the sources suggest they should consist of suspensions or even “expulsions.”

The targeted players are some members of the coaching staff and the current captain, Stephane Mbia, blamed for using unfriendly remarks against freshly selected players during the return leg of the match pitting Cameroon against South Africa.

The two teams drew both in first and the return leg 2-2 and 0-0 respectively.

Some players who withdrew during the clash against South Africa citing unauthenticated injuries could be excluded from the selection pending the outcome of investigations of the FECAFOOT, the sources warned.
