Eyong’s agent confirms other PL interest

It was reported earlier this week that Everton were looking into the signing of Cameroonian international Eyong Enoh from Belgian side Standard Liege this summer.

The Mirror claimed that new Everton boss Ronald Koeman was keen on signing the former Ajax player at Southampton and will carry that interest to Goodison Park this summer.

Now the player’s agent has discussed the potential for a deal. Shallon Nkeshimana told Het Laatste Nieuws:

“There is interest from different Premier League clubs, not just Everton.

“Clubs from China and Dubai would also like to attract. So there are several possible options, nothing is decided yet. Eyong does not currently want to close any doors at this time."

Enoh would be an interesting buy for The Toffees – but also a necessary one. The club need more options in the middle of the park and Enoh has come off the back of two decent seasons with Standard in Belgium.

The 30-year-old has previously spent six seasons at Ajax and time on loan with Fulham and Antalyaspor before joining Standard in 2014.

He has 51 caps for Cameroon but would not be seen as a marquee signing from Everton – although it is also clear that other teams are interested in bringing him in.

Everton have lost Leon Osman and Steven Pienaar in midfield this summer and Enoh could prove a decent back-up option for The Toffees.
