Everyone wants a piece of Leon Boyomo

His teammates love him, especially when he has the ball at the feet, and his opponents hate him purely out of fear. It is the one and only Leon Boyomo.

The twenty-year-old 1m 90 attacker, belonging to the Training Centre of the Academic and Athletic Youth Nkoulemakong (JASN), is the proud scorer of ten goals in eleven second regional division games and has been dubbed the little "devil" by defenders.

It has been two years since he graced the pitch at JASN. Boyomo was 18, and evolved where he was in his second year of training at a local Centre. During a friendly match between the two training centers, the young native of Yaoundé exploded.

Accurate and fast, he scored two goals that impressed leaders at JASN so much they decided to secure his services.

"That day, he dragged our many supporters. He won all the duels, especially in the corners where he would get the ball higher than everyone. It is at this moment that I liked him," recalls Joachim Essomba, president of JASN.

Boyomo joined his new team during the championship phase. He scored seven goals in ten games, totalling nine wins and one draw for JASN.

Disputing several friendlies against lower national teams of Cameroon, Boyomo was quickly spotted by Engelbert Mbarga, which convened for a traineeship at the Francophone Games in Nice in 2013 with the Lions U20.

During consolidation in Yaoundé he was unfortunately not selected for the competition. "Coton Sport Club proposed to buy him, but we in the JASN, preferred a loan option. I know what my players are worth. In Cameroon clubs cannot buy players at prices that would allow the selling of the club and the player to be winners," says Joachim Essomba

This season is not only JASN’s first regional D2 championship with 21 points in ten games, but also the first year they have qualified for the finals of the 32nd Cup of Cameroon thanks to this impressive player.

“He can go very far in terms of his technical and athletic abilities. He is fast, smart and pretty good in duels on the pitch,” said his coach, Stéphane Edjangue.

Today, Leon Boyomo is the lust of several clubs in Cameroon’s first division, who are all looking for ways to get their hands on him.

He is included on the list of 25 players called to take part in a training camp for the second and final round of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations, "Senegal 2015." The course starts next Monday at the Technical Centre of the Cameroonian Football Federation until July 27.

The Cubs play in early August against South Africa in an attempt to secure their ticket to the tournament, after having disposed of Burundi in the previous step.
