Everton fans to Eto'o; "an inspired signing"

Everton lost for the first time in the Premier League this season, with a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Chelsea at Goodison Park.

The Toffees kicked off their season with two draws against Leicester City and Arsenal, and faced another stern test this evening as Chelsea travelled to Merseyside in search of their third win in a row.

Things couldn't have started much worse for Everton, as goals from Diego Costa and Branislav Ivanovic in the first three minutes handed Chelsea the perfect start.

Kevin Mirallas pulled one back for Roberto Martinez's side on the stroke of half time, and the second half of the game saw one of the most bizarre periods of football in recent Premier League history.

Seamus Coleman's own goal restored Chelsea's two goal lead, only for Steven Naismith to pull another goal back for the Toffees. Goals from Nemanja Matic and Samuel Eto'o respectively then made it 4-3, but Ramires and Costa wrapped up the 6-3 win for Jose Mourinho's men.

However, Eto'o's impact gave Everton hope of a result, and he exerted some form of revenge over his former employers with a goal - much to the delight of Everton fans on Twitter.

Many believe that the Cameroon international could be a key player for the club this season, and they hope for more goals after today's success.
