Eto'o could leave Everton - Martinez

The former Chelsea striker has been linked with Sampdoria and the Toffees boss admitted that the Goodison Park outfit have been contacted regarding the player's availability.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed Samuel Eto'o could leave the club after they were contacted regarding the striker.

Reports have linked the former Barcelona forward with Sampdoria, and Goal understands the striker has become frustrated with life at Goodison Park in recent weeks.

Eto'o was left out of Everton's squad as they crashed out of the FA Cup on penalties to West Ham, and Martinez revealed that the veteran's future will be decided in the coming days despite stating earlier in the week that he would not be allowed to leave in January.

"A couple of clubs contacted us in the last 12 hours so I decided to leave him [Eto'o] out. We will see what is best for all of us," he told reporters.

"We have a great relationship with Samuel and we will see what is best for him and us over the next few days."

The ex-Cameroon international joined the Toffees in the summer having been released by Chelsea, but has struggled to hold down a place in the starting XI.

The 33-year-old has made eight Premier League starts for the club, scoring three goals.
