Cameroonian club side Coton Sport edged visiting Angolan side Petro Atletico 2-1 I the first leg of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup play-off played in Garoua on Sunday.
Coton opened the scoring through Central African Republic born player Nicaise Zimbory who converted from the spot kick midway through the first half. The home side had chances to add on to the score but Petro survived to get the equalizer after the break. The Angolans' all important away goal came from Ricardo Estevaro.
Matters got worse for Coton when they were reduced to ten men after Djene Ortega picked up a second yellow leaving the Cameroonian side to seek a win with fewer men. That is what they did on 76th minute when substitute Manga Mbah scored the second goal for Coton. Further pressure did not yield any more goals and Coton will now have to travel to Luanda for this coming weekend's second leg tie with the aggregate winner set to reach the group phase of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup competition.
In another play off encounter Egyptian side Al Ahly will take a narrow 1-0 win to Morocco for the second leg tie thanks to a solitary strike on 20th minute by Abdallah Said against Difaa El- Jadidi. The reigning Champions League holders, Al Ahly have never won the second tier CAF club competition and will try defend this slender lead achieved at Cairo's Air Defense stadium in a week's time and reach the groups stage of the competition.
