Coton Sport eye home comeback

Coton Sport will be looking to overturn a two-goal deficit when they host Stade Malien in the return leg of the Caf Champions League on Sunday at Stade Omnisports Roumde-Adjia in Garoua.

Les Cotonniers captain Stephane Kingue told supersport.com that home advantage would help his side to play well and hopefully win the tie.

“We still have a chance to win this tie especially because we are at home. We have to be organized and avoid conceding because that will give them more of an advantage,” explained the optimistic Kingue.

The 2008 Caf Champions League finalists have fallen short of their former glory since the arrest of one of their founding members and former Cameroon Football Federation president Iya Mohammed in June 2013.

This event set the club back as they have been unable to sign top players because of financial constraints, something that has affected their continental success.

With youngster Yazid Atouba not registered for the competition and the misfiring Atangana Mvondo out of this tie, Coton Sport is short of attacking options but Kingue still believes they can win the tie.

A successful comeback on Sunday will give the fans something to cheer about but anything less than that will be received with contempt and further frustration at their downward spiral in continental assignments.

The winner of this tie will face the winner between Zesco United of Zambia and Guinean side Horoya.

The Ndola-based side registered a three-goal cushion following a 4-1 at home in the first leg and is the favourite to win the tie.
