Coton Sport Stun Asec in Five-Goal Thriller

Visiting Coton Sport stunned ASEC Mimosas 3-2 in their Group A clash on Friday in Abidjan to secure their second successive win at this stage.

Veteran forward Daouda Kamilou scored the winner in stoppage time as the Cameroonians strengthened their hold of the group, four points clear of ASEC's two.

The absence of first-choice goalie Loic Fedjou and defender Cedric Djeugoue, who have been included in Cameroon's 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, barely affected the output of the visitors.

Kamilou, one of the surviving members of the Coton Sport that lost to Egyptian side, Al-Ahly in the final of the 2007 edition broke the deadlock after 21 minutes.

The lead won't last long as ASEC rallied back and restored parity through captain Hugues Zagbayou on 33 minutes.

On 44 minutes, Ibrahima Fofana who had replaced Zagbayou three minutes earlier made his presence felt instantly, giving the hosts a 2-1 lead at half time.

Coton Sport returned stronger, equalizing through Nicaise Zimbori from the spot on 59 minutes before the Niger-import sealed victory with his second of the game on 90 minutes.

On Saturday, Malian torchbearers AS Real will face AC Leopards of Congo in the other Group A match in Bamako.
