Cameroonian leads goal chart in Nigerian league

The Nigerian Premier League 2013/2014 season has entered its Seventh Week with some players already distinguishing themselves.

A Cameroonian, Namso Edo, who is Akwa United's captain, leads the goal scorers' chart with five goals.

Namso, a defender, had told PREMIUM TIMES that he has set a goal target for himself this season.

"I will score more than 10 goals in the first quarter, my wish is to come out as the highest goal scorer in the premiership this season and I'm working towards it," the club captain said.

Kaduna United striker, Aminu Isah, and Gbolahan Salami of Warri Wolves have four goals each.

The players on three goals as at Week 7 include Onyekachi Okafor of Crown FC and Ifeanyi Inyam of Sharks FC.

There are numerous players on the two goal mark.

The highest number of goals scored by a league player in a season was by Jude Aneke, who scored 22 goals for Kaduna United in the 2011 league season.
