CAF inspectors come to Cameroon

A four man team from the Confederation of African Football, CAF led by Malian born Amadou Diakite is currently on a five day inspection mission in Cameroon.

As one of the bidders for the hosting of the 2019 African Cup of Nations, the team wants to know more about the country’s ability.

The CAF team is appraising Cameroon’s abilities in specific domains including sports infrastructure, health, accommodation, transport, telecommunication and tourist facilities.

At the beginning of the mission Tuesday 13th May 2014, Tombi Aroko, the Secretary General of Cameroon’s Football Federation enlightened the team on the country’s determination to host the competition.

He, not only discussed the existing facilities and earmarked projects but expounded on the political will to host a memorable Cup of African Nations.

The team stated that their mission is not to pass judgment but to listen, take notes and present their findings to the CAF executive committee that shall make the final decision in September 2014.

According to the programme, the team goes to Garoua this Wednesday 14th May to inspect the Roumde Adja stadium, the Coton Sport Complex, the Garoua international airport amongst other facilities. On Thursday they shall travel to Bafoussam and Friday to Limbe. The mission ends on Saturday in Douala.

The Government delegates of each of the towns (Yaoundé, Douala, Bafoussam, Garoua, Limbé) shall be required to make convincing presentations on the virtue of the town and the earmarked projects.

The CAF delegation is made up of Amadou Diakite (Malian), Alioum Djibrine (Chadian), Paul Bassey (Nigerian) and Amr Fahmy (Egyptian).
