Assou-Ekotto headbutts teammate Moukandjo

It must be hard to keep your cool when your team are losing 4-0, but there’s no excuse for the behaviour of Cameroon’s Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

The Spurs full-back took out his frustrations on teammate Benjamin Moukandjo, headbutting the Nancy forward after an exchange of words.

Alex Song had already embarrassed the team by getting sent off when his team needed him most, but Assou-Ekotto added to the team’s self-destruction by marring a relatively brave performance with stupidity and aggression.

Cameroon are now out of the World Cup and face Brazil in their final game, a daunting task.
