Aspire Football talent hunt ends

The final training camp for the selection of the three talented players to represent Cameroon into Aspire Football Academy has ended in Yaoundé. Young boys from different regions preselected for the final selection had to go through a screening during a three-day training camp in Yaoundé.

The training that had one of the phases carried out at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium was finalised at the Fecafoot Technical Centre in Odja on July 18. Clovis Njih from the Northwest region told Lion4life.com that the training camp was interesting because participants had everything to make their stay memorable.“We were lodged in a good hotel, had good food and the selection was not bad”, he said.

Njih had high hopes after his performance and though there was a stiff competition. “Considering how I performed, I know that I will make it by the grace of God”, he said. But, only three of the 30 young players that attended the final selection would be selected to the finals in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Olivier Nkoh Coordinator for Douala 7 in Bonamossadi, confirmed that the three-day camp with the players was marvelous and the training went on well with everything falling in place with exquisite organisation that provided a good platform to select the best.

Going by him, with the many talented players, it was difficult at the beginning but some outstanding players could be spotted. On the selection criteria, Nkoh said the technical and tactical level were done in such a manner that it revealed the qualities which brought out the genius in the boys.

From the 50 sites around the country, 176 young players show-cased their talents for the scouts to fish out the 30 who exhibited special qualities to qualify for the finals in Yaoundé. The second phase of the selection coincided with the presence of Aspire Football Dreams Cameroon Director, Thomas Nkono in the country to supervise the per-selection.

But, the final selection was supervised by Juanjo Rovira, assisted by three representatives from Cameroon to select the three players to go for the final selection.
