After the death of Cameroonian footballers some months ago, the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, has continued to grieve following the sudden death of football officials recently.

David Mayebi, member of the Marketing Commission of FECAFOOT died after collapsing last May 3 in Bertoua during the laying of the foundation stone of a stadium to be constructed by FECAFOOT.

Known as a renowned adventurer, the defensive right back started his football career at Eclair FC in Douala in 1973, and then evolved within the Douala Stadium from 1975 to 1976. He was later transferred to Union Sportive of Douala between 1976 and 1984. He won the Cup Winners Cup in 1979 and the Champion Clubs’ Cup in 1981.

Reconverting into a coach at the end of his football career, he was amongst the technical staff of Limbe Elecsport FC, Diamond FC of Yaoundé and Union Sportive of Douala.

In 1995, David Mayebi created the Cameroonian Footballers Association (AFC), the forerunner of SYNAFOC, National Union of Footballers of Cameroon to fight for the rights of players.

Twenty-four hours after the burial of David Mayebi last June 11, another emblematic figure of Cameroon football Antoine Essomba Eyenga Depadoux passed on to glory.

According to closed sources, the 71 year old Essomba Eyenga was partially paralyzed after suffering a heart attack some months ago.

The former president of Tonnere Kalara Club, TKC was particularly known for his boldness and frankness.

As a tax lawyer, he worked in the Ministry of Economy and Finance where he got his retirement some fifteen years ago.

He was Vice President and member of the Emergency Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation in 2013 before denouncing the executive position.

He returned again to the house when he regained the position of Vice President, Executive Committee member in charge of the ad hoc Committee of futsal and beach soccer.

He was also a referee at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (Switzerland).
