Advantage DR Congo After 1-0 Win Away to Cameroon

Democratic Republic of Congo put themselves in a commanding position to reach the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final with a 1-0 away win over Cameroon on Monday in Garoua, in the first leg of the CHAN play-off.

DR Congo's Mobele Ndombe scored the only goal of the match on 74t minute after the home side defence failed to deal with a ball in the penalty area. In an evenly balanced game in which both sides created chances from which they could have scored , DRC's Thierry Kasereka saw his effort come off the post while at the other end visiting goalkeeper Lomboto Herve thwarted Cameroonian strikers on numerous times

Herve stopped Patrick Abouma Ndzana from equalizing in extra time with a fabulous save from a free kick and that ensured that the Leopards have the advantage going into the return match they will host in Lubumbashi while Indomitable Lions now need to win and score at least two goals or achieve a similar 1-0 win to take the tie into a penalty shoot-out.

Cameroon is set to travel to DRC without players from Coton Sport for the second leg encounter as they will be involved in a Group B Orange CAF Champions League match during the same weekend.
