20 Lions begin training in camp

In a recent release by coach Volker Finke, it indicated the names of 20 players who have been summoned for the upcoming friendlies.

Indeed, the president of the Committee for Standardization, in a statement released on Wednesday, announced that Cameroon will play two friendly matches in Asia; March 25 against Indonesia, ranked l58th in the world Fifa rankings, and March 30 against the Thailand (143rd world).

In this list, the bulk of the workforce (16) was present at the last African Cup of Nations while three of them were recently called into the camp.

Bana Musa, for example, was called during the playoffs of the CAN. Cotton Sport Garoua Defender is also the only local player in the Group of 20. Another comeback is Yaya Banana.

The Defender had not been called into the Lions squad for almost three years. He now plays in Greece, in Platanias, first division club. But the most anticipated comeback is definitely that of Joël Matip who has not been with the team since the elimination in the first round of the 2014 World Cup.

The Schalke 04 player had wished to take a break, but besides that repeated injuries subsequently also thwarted his return.

It is said that Volker Finke wants to deal with a group that he knows, with the objective of beginning preparation for AFCON 2017 playoffs which start next June.

These friendlies are, in any case, the opportunity to review the Indomitable Lions who last match dates back to January, and the lost match against Côte d'Ivoire (1-0).
