Soul Sistas donate to Dorcas Orphanage in Mutengene

Members of the Soul Sistas Association have donated food items, groceries, beverages, cartons of fish and a cash gift to orphans of the Dorcas Orphanage, Mutengene.

The donations were made during a visit to the orphanage on Saturday, January 31, 2015 by all 15 members of the association.

According to the President of the Soul Sistas Association, Madam Agnes Tama, their association is founded on the virtues of Love, Peace and Togetherness and their outing to the Dorcas Orphanage in Mutengene is in fulfilment of one of the driving objectives of the Soul Sistas which is to share love with the underprivileged and needy in society.

“…Ours is to share with our brothers and sisters, and even our children who for one reason or the other are in need. We have neither silver nor gold to give; we’ve come with a little token which we hope will put smiles on your faces,” Madam Tama said as she addressed the orphans.

In songs, rhymes and speeches, the orphans thanked their benefactors, this time, the Soul Sistas for thinking of them at the beginning of 2015, insisting that it is an indication of better days to come.

Madam Mouangue Angele, proprietor of Dorcas Orphanage while receiving the gifts from the Soul Sistas on behalf of the Orphanage expressed overwhelming joy and prayed for many more of such donations.

Madam Mouangue said the orphanage hosts 27 orphans – 16 girls and 11 boys – as she called for support from members of the community indicating that the burden is heavy.

Mrs. Sally Tome Ngale, one of the founding members of the Soul Sistas Association told The Sun that the association was founded some four years ago on the foundation of love and the sharing of love with society’s needy and underprivileged. She said their choice to take their first ever donation to Dorcas Orphanage is a way to tell the children there that the society loves and cares for them.

After the donations, Madam Agnes Nitha Ngontep, founding President of the Soul Sistas Association said it is a dream-come-true for them, especially given that the idea of uniting friends under an association was hatched four years ago under very modest conditions.
