Associations get involved to achieve better living in Douala

The Urban Community in Douala had exchanges with these groups for a better emergence of the economic city.

For 4 years, Urban Community in Douala organises open days at the place of all associations based in the city. For the fourth edition, the theme chosen was "how to capitalize the contribution of associations and the support of the partners for a real emergence of the city of Douala”. It was aimed at getting them involved in the management of Douala in all areas.

After conducting a Census of associations, observed their activities, measured their economic weight and their impact on the population, the Cud decided to group them according to their specialties as a first step. Then establish the support systems, so that they participate in economic development and the dynamics of the Wouri Department.

From Wednesday to Friday, these groups took stock of their activities on the ground and in their sector of activity, stated their contribution to economic development, shared experiences and presented their productions.

It was also necessary for them to develop tools that improve the performance of actors in development. In addition, had to derive a better synergy between the actions of associations and communities, and thereby promote the emergence of a vibrant civil society for a better involvement of it in local development.
