After twenty days of crying in the rain, victims of the Babessi floods in Ngoketungia division will have a rare opportunity to smile when a government team led by the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation incharge of Decentralised Authorities and Local Councils, Jules Doret Ndongo goes comforting victims today. In effect, the team is expected in the flood area to extend government's solidarity to the 95 victims from 26 families.
From the look of things, Babessi Sub Division and the entire Ngoketungia Division is set to welcome the team. The Divisional Officer of Babessi, Ali Anogu told CT yesterday that the Sub-division has been mobilised to receive the government's team which is expected to size up casualties of the floods, visit the new site carved out to resettle the flood victims and address the homeless victims in Babessi town.
Field reports also indicate that the team may stop over in Ndop, capital of Ngoketungia Division on the way to Babessi for a brief working session with the Divisional Commission handling the crisis headed by the SDO, Kuela Valeri Norbert. So far, victims have received support from Ngoketungia elites and friends who handed over bags of rice, refined oils and didactic materials for school children. The Cameroon Baptist Convention, Health Board was also there with free consultations and treatment for flood-related diseases.
