Yaounde: Fire ravages Mvog-mbi market

Fire has consumed over 30 stores at the Yaounde Mvog-mbi market.

The wild fire broke out this 9th June 2015 at seven p.m. just after the return of electricity to the neighbourhood following a power outage.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined but traders in the market suspect poor electric installations.

According to eye witness account, the fire started on an electric pole and moved over to the surrounding shops.

Initially, all efforts by the inhabitants of the neighbourhood to abate the fire proved futile until elements of the fire fighting brigade arrived the scene to contain the fire and save some property.

While investigations are on-going as to the cause of the fire, some traders are presently helplessly counting their losses buried in the ruins left by the flames.
