Wimbum community cautioned against Boko Haram

Members of the Wimbum Cultural and Development Association, WICUDA, based in Yaounde, have been called upon to guard against Boko Haram.

The call was made by Dr. Isaac Njilah during the WICUDA cultural jamboree staged by WICUDA Oyo-Mabang in Yaounde.

Welcoming the population and guests, the President of WICUDA Yaounde, Lazarus Nfor, said apart from displaying the rich Wimbum culture for children born out of the village to savour, the cultural festival is fast becoming a touristic attraction.

Nfor called on all and sundry to support the expansion project of their cultural centre.

“How much has each WICUDA member given to help in the advancement of the construction works?” he asked.

Releasing a series of massages from the Nfuh, Ta Nformi Njilah said the relationship between the Nfuh and leaders of some religious bodies, especially the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church, EBC, was like that of a rat and cat. He hailed Rev. Dr. Philemon Nfor for trying to reconcile the Nfuh and leaders of EBC, inviting them to contribute their quota for the construction of a multipurpose complex in the church yard.

On the issue of Boko Haram, Njilah appealed: “No Wimbum person should be involved in the evil activities of the sect. Some Wimbum boys have been noted for feymania around the Obili neighbourhood in Yaounde where people are tricked through the internet. These Wimbum children are immediately called upon to stop such acts,” he urged.

On his part, the Secretary General of WICUDA Yaounde, Emmanuel Ngwatu, briefed the community of some key resolutions taken at a recent National Executive meeting of WICUDA that held in Bamenda. He announced a National WICUDA cultural week for Nkambe from December 26 to 28, 2014, which will also be marked by elections.
