Waste management situation worsens in Douala

Has Douala resumed its image of a city of trash? This is the question that arises in the light of garbage piling up longer in neighborhoods and market areas in the city.

Indeed, there has been a slowdown in the collection of household garbage in Douala lately. In neighborhoods, streets and markets, garbage continue to pile up. At Bépanda and in many other places in this area for example, people no longer know what to do, in the face of this situation that is becoming very disturbing.

In neighbourhoods like Deido, Bonabéri Ngangué, etc. the scenario is the same: waste piles are everywhere on the streets.

Merchant spaces are not spared from the situations. Maryvonne D., cassava seller noted, ‘I have the impression that the company responsible for collecting garbage has abandoned us."
