University of Dschang students abandon campus

The University of Dschang, known for its quality teaching for the past three years, has experienced a good number of students leaving its campus day by day.

Students usually leave the institution due to security problems and as a result of the rampant and "horrible" crimes, the Dschang town has witnessed in recent years.

According to La Nouvelle Expression on Thursday, November 19, 2015, "the phenomenon of ritual crimes appears to have caused the current situation in the school"

The newspaper added that the fight against "organized" crimes does not really deter the thugs in the city and the victims are usually students of the university.

It was also revealed that the "suspicious" deaths oriented investigators towards some "businessmen" who were arrested, but managed to pass the cracks of justice.

"Their release, according to sources, is another compelling reason for the fear of living in Dschang. Students and especially parents do not want to lead their children into the jaws of the wolves," the newspaper reported.

The University of Dschang has, however, improved the quality of its infrastructure, including the construction of a brand new 1000 amphitheater operational from the academic year 2015-2016.

Also, it offers professional Masters programmes and easy access to the internet. Nonetheless. insecurity has blocked the chance for academic excellence.
