Truck kills two, injures a dozen at Ndokoti crossroads

It was when the fire-fighting brigade arrived the scene that real rescue mission began this 30th September 2014 at the Ndokoti junction.

It was a horror, difficult to describe and none could hold back tears.

Shouts of lamentation could be heard when each of the eight dead bodies and the injured were pulled out of the bottom of the ill-fated truck; needless to mention the material damage, it was immeasurable.

The accident took place in the early hours of the evening, unfortunately during rush hours in this overcrowded part of Douala.

The truck witnessed break failure as it descended towards the Tradex fuel station; all motorbike riders including passengers were swept away as it continued its crazy ride towards the Ndokoti tunnel where it stopped.

The driver of the truck immediately sensed danger and disappeared before the population arrived.

Security officials were immediately alerted. The owner of the truck was apprehended. He shall be expected to identify the escapee driver.

The accident has once again raised concerns about the road worthiness certificates issued to vehicles
