Suspected attacker interrogated in Maroua

A man suspected of wanting to commit an attack was arrested on Monday morning and being interrogated in Maroua.

Maroua, the capital of the Far North of Cameroon experienced the death of more than two dozen people who were killed in July after a double attack, Xinhua learned from security sources.

The respondent, a man of about 30 years of age and belonging to the Kanuri ethnic group, originally from Nigeria, was arrested at dawn around 4 am (3 am, GMT) by the gendarmerie.

He was caught in the possession of explosives around that time in a house he rented in Doualaré neighborhood, one of the famous places of Maroua, revealed these sources.

"The owners of the house and others in his entourage were also arrested, totaling five defendants aside the suspect himself," said one of the security officials reached by Xinhua.

The six suspects were taken to the premises of the legion of gendarmerie of the Far North, where investigations continue, other sources informed.
