Students urged to make friends while schooling

Remarking that friends made in school are often more sincere that those made at work, Thomas Yaussa, University don cum Rector of Bonberger Higher training and learning institute, has encouraged his students to make friends while schooling .

Yaussamade the called while delivering an academic discourse to students in Yaounde recently. He explained that friendships made at work are more of interest-oriented, while those made in school are based on instinct and affinity.

Going by the founder of Bonberger Higher training and learning institute,GregoireNkonpawa, it is in this light that the school has as main objective to inculcate moral and patriotic values in its students so that they can exert positive influence as they interact in society.

“This institution aims to inculcate in students the desire to serve their communities and not themselves. We do not want students who would use their knowledge to enrich themselves and oppress others, butwe want to educate students to share and be open to others,” Nkonpawa stated.

Elaborating on the above point, Vice Rector, Christopher Nkoka, revealed during a press briefing that the Bonberger Higher Institution distinguishes itself from other schools by virtue of its spiritual and moral touch.

He said: “Most schools have almost the same function; to train, to empower and educate. But Bonberger is more interested in helping the less privileged than taking money and talking of school fees all the time. We have an orphanage, a scholarship scheme and special reductions.”

Tracing the roots of the said institution, the Vice Rector revealed that it was created four years ago and has already graduated two batches in fields such as Engineering, Management, Science and Technology. He further revealed that the school faces challenges such as the lack of competent teachers, especially in fields like technology, coupled with the fact that it is not well known by the public.
