Son of a former ambassador suspected of burglary

Documents and computers were stolen, while the Director General of External Research (DGRE) Leopold Maxime Eko Eko was visiting Maroua with the Minister for the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo o.

According to the daily, Mutations, of Monday, July 27, 2015, "On Wednesday night, individuals broke into the office of Eko Eko. They stole important documents and computers."

These items were taken from the 14th floor of the new building of the Directorate General for External Research, where the curtains were removed and left on the ground.

Strangely enough, the burglars also entered an office on the third floor and searched thoroughly.

The newspaper adds some information about the suspects: "Following the burglary, the police commissioner is currently investigating the case which sources say the son of a former Cameroonian ambassador is a suspect. Also, mobile phones of all officers on duty at the DGRE cabinet have been confiscated for investigation purposes."

Within the Directorate General for External Research, opinions are diverse, the newspaper reported. For some, these are the actions of collaborators of Leopold Maxime Eko Eko for "juicy benefits from the hierarchy." "Others believed it was "staged" to "victimize" the DGRE, concludes the newspaper.
