Six die in ghastly accident at Elat

The new academic year has started off on a bad footing for some families following a ghastly motor accident along the Yaounde-Awae Highway in the afternoon of 8th September 2014.

According to witnesses, six people died and several others injured at Elat, 30 km away from Yaounde after a transport vehicle carrying pupils collided with a pick-up truck of the National Security.

Reports say the accident was triggered by excessive speed on the narrow stretch of road coupled with poor visibility due to the heavy downpour of the afternoon.

Rescue teams that hurried to the scene evacuated the injured to the Yaounde Central Hospital.
