Gilbert Tsimi Evouna, government delegate to the Yaounde City Council (Cuy) was firm in his statement published in CT Monday, October 5, that he "does not remember issuing any authorization to trucks".

He said therefore that none of these large vehicles should be parked on the sidewalk of Olembé, outside the sand market, located in a corner, shortly after the brewery in the neighborhood.

At the site on Wednesday morning, the decision of the delegate is better understood. These trucks of over 25 tons have caused damage and continue on this route connecting the capital to the western region.

The newly constructed road has already taken a big hit. Bitumen has turned into mud or just sand. The small entrance before the gas station is now feasible for these trucks. Small vehicles that venture there, break down.

In addition, people are tired. " We are tired. There are rumors all day long yet they drive very badly. They do not even think about the children. The Government delegate found a place for the but they do not want to occupy it. They only park on the road," laments a resident.

On the sidewalk, just a few rebels are in prohibited zone. There are six or seven trucks loaded with sand and a few empty. "We are aware of the statement of the delegate but we have not parked. The tire is punctured so I stopped here," says one of these carriers. Lies! Retorted a resident.

"They always park on the sidewalk. They do not listen. For more than six years they disturb the people of this district. There were meetings with the district chief, but they never left the place," he said.
