More than a week after activities had stalled at Olembé popularly called "sand market" since Monday, June 1, the sand business has resumed and is going well.

"Business is gradually returning to normal compared to last week where the activity was struggling to take off again," says Armand Pouene, one of the dealers.

There is enthusiasm by carriers, diggers, resellers and others in the sand business because the resolutions taken at the end of the multi-stakeholder meeting convened last Monday in Yaounde by the Governor of the Centre has been successful.

According to the president of the National Union of carriers, diggers, sale agents, distributors, shippers and stakeholders of sand and gravel (Synastrascam), Fréderic Ambono Noah, everyone is satisfied with the decision of the administrative authority. That is the removal of barriers of control of over 12, operating on the stretch. Three checkpoints have been maintained with two joint law enforcement forces and road safety barrier.

The electrical panel is no longer functioning as activities of Meyos weighing station were suspended to the delight of drivers. Sandblasters also complained of tax services located on this axis.

"They make us pay income tax twice, in Yaoundé and Lékié. The department did not recognize the tax paid in the city center," said the union president. In this regard, the governor asked the officials of taxes present at the meeting to harmonize the payment.

In addition, he asked truckers to stop overloading "because they are the cause of early deterioration of the road." An order was also given to them not to travel on heavy axis from 9pm and stop abusive parking.
