SIC apartments receive facelift

The State of Cameroon has allocated over 330 million FCfa to renovate the SIC apartments as stated in the contract plan, signed in 2013.

The SIC houses in Mendong neighborhoods Cité verte and residence of Mango have regained their youthful glow. The accommodation, built in Yaoundé, now display great looks on the outside and inside. One can now take pleasure in looking at these buildings as the appearance has changed. The walls, usually painted with mustard yellow and gold colors, received another makeover. Weeds, sometimes bushy around the houses and roads leading to these houses, suffered the wrath of the mowers.

The interior of the apartments were not left out of the renovation. The doors, windows and cupboards replacements gave the rooms a new look. The cleaning of facades and stairwells of buildings as well as sewage, were done at the same time.

Flowers were planted in the gardens. The terms of agreement in the state’s support to SIC indicated that the state will cater for the carpentry work, plumbing and painting. Similarly, SIC's own resources are put to use in all the cities for safety (weeding around the houses and removing debris) and beautification which completes the new face of housing developments.

This program, launched in Yaoundé and Douala, is expected to extend to all areas where SIC has built, namely: Maroua, Garoua, Bertoua, Edea, Buea and Limbe. Thus, for the first phase like Mendong in Yaoundé, Douala: Makepe and Bonamoussadi, work began in late 2014 and the reception was held in April 2015.

The second phase, began in March 2015, for Cité verte, residence of Mango (Bastos), Grand Messa and Kotto are slightly behind because all the work has not been completed. A commercial management of SIC, recalled that in order to preserve the refurbished housing, the occupants are adviced to more civility and responsibility in their use of shared areas and equipment .
