Police: Reinforcements in the East

Gendarmerie Gendarmerie

The security force in the Eastern region has been reinforced as 75 gendarmerie elements have been sent to the region.

The main objective of this deployment is the fight against insecurity.

They have been fully equipped with arms capable of handling the thugs who roam towns and villages in the East. The departments of Kadey and Lom and Djerem had the lion's share in the number of gendarmerie deployed; mainly at Wongou, Ringue, Malewa, Zembe Borongo, Gado, Danta Patou, Bouli. But in reality, there are the four departments of the region who benefit from this effective reinforcement.

“The mission of these men is to reduce the spectacle of highway robbers and other emerging forms of security threat. It is about reducing the situation to its simplest expression so that the people, who are accustomed to the climate of peace and security serenely, pursue their income generating activities,” Colonel Joseph Eyong Enow, commander of the eastern gendarmerie legion, in a bid to remind them of the expectations of the high command.

On July 27, 2015 in Bertoua, highway robbers were caught by the police. The Gendarmerie Legion Commander, Colonel Enow, took the opportunity to commend the timeliness of his superiors who quickly responded to the complaint expressed a few days earlier. He once again urged the people for an honest collaboration with the law enforcement forces.
