Police Chief in comic exchange with madman

Wilson Elung Njume, Central Police Commissioner for Kumba, Meme, Southwest Region, chased away a mad man, Christopher Ndebah a.k.a 'General' from the scene of a road accident that occurred on October 29 as police struggled to rescue a victim and restore traffic flow.

The accident, which occurred opposite the Central Police Station, involved a motorbike and a truck. Eyewitness accounts hold that the bike rider was emerging from the filling station into the road, when he collided with the truck that was heading towards Buea Road on high speed.

The rider sustained injuries on his hands, legs and back on which he was dragged on the tarmac for a few meters.

As onlookers and police officers rushed to the scene to rescue the bike rider, ‘General’ emerged from the scene and started raining insults on the uniformed officers.

Reacting to the insults, Commissioner Elung asked ‘General’ to leave the scene.

As the victim was yet to be lifted from the tarmac to the hospital ‘General was still spotted insulting the police and bike riders.

He told the Commissioner of Police that he was the boss of all security officers with authorisation from the Presidency, while to the bike riders, the madman told them that they do not have legal documents, particularly insurance cover, and that over-speeding was the cause of the accidents they are usually involved in.

The police chief later burst into laughter as the madman promised to take away his work tools.

It should be recalled that a few months back the mad ‘General’ was trashed by police elements for abusing the cops and disturbing public peace. After the beatings, ‘General’ disappeared for weeks before recently resurfacing again.
