PCC tasked to transform bendskins

The clergy, lay preachers and other members of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, have been exhorted to carry the message of evangelisation to bendskin riders (motorcycle taxi riders), buyam sellams, civil servants and others who, till date, do not believe that God is Maker and Master.

This call was made by Rev. Achowah Umenei at a sermon at PCC Musang in Bamenda during the celebration of the 58th anniversary of the autonomy of the PCC.
The former communication boss of the CPC, now lecturer at the Cameroon Christian University, drew inspiration from the speech of the PCC Moderator, Rt. Rev. Samuel Fonki on the theme; “Transformed to Serve”.

“This theme, coined by Moderator Fonki, means that every Christian must endeavour to win the hearts of bike riders and others in society to Christ. So, as a challenge, we urge every Christian in this church to go all the hug, and bring along one new Christian each for baptism, beginning this year.
As we keep praying, in your quiet moment, ask yourself how many Christians you have brought to God. If you have been “transformed to serve” and you cannot serve God, then you have never been transformed in your lives,” Rev. Achowah stated.

Enumerating great strides the PCC has registered in education, health and many more, Rev. Achowah said, “We have experienced some dissenting voices by Pastors ordained by our Moderator who went out of the church’s regulation and missions, trying to ramp down the throats of our Christians their own mission and vision. Since they failed in establishing such anti-Presbyterian beliefs, they excluded themselves from the church and we can only wish them well, where they are.”

Rev. Achowah recalled that the only crisis which they felt could split the church and that never happened was in 1985, during elections into top jobs of the Moderator and Synod Clerk, when the positions went to the Northwest.
The Chair Lady of PC Musang, Deborah Gamon, said the numerical and spiritual growth of the Presbyterian Church in Musang is a reflection of the entire country, which merits praises to God for the miracles that have touched the lives of true believers of the Word.

The host Parish Pastor of PC Musang, Rev. Simon Montoh, said there could not have been any success story in 58 years if not for the enormous contributions from Christian Women’s Fellowship CWF, the Christian Mens’ Fellowship CMF, the young Christian Fellowship and other important Church groups.
Past Moderators of the PCC since 1958 include Rev. Abraham Ngole (1958-1969), Rev. Jeremiah Chi Kangsen (1969-1985), Rev. Henry Awasum (1958-1999), Rt. Rev. Nyansako-Ni-Nku (1999-2009) and Rev. Dr. Festus Asana took over the baton of command from 2009-2014.
