One of the most dynamic youths in the North passes on

Moktar Oumarou Moktar Oumarou

Moktar Oumarou finally bowed to life on Friday August 21, 2015 at the regional hospital in Garoua after a brief illness. According to his brother, Moktar who was well in the day began feeling pains around 8 p.m. on Friday.

"He told us to call his mother so that she can accompany him to the hospital because he was getting weaker," informed his younger brother.

"After getting to the doctor, Moktar spent barely 20 minutes with us before closing his eyes forever," noted his brother in tears. His younger brother alongside his mum, who accompanied Moktar to the hospital indicated that he was suffering from diabetes.

Born July 11, 1980, the young Moktar Oumarou until his death was very ambitious. Since the creation of the National youth Council in the aftermath of the February 2008 riots, Moktar Oumarou had beaten young heavyweights of the North region in the elections to become president of the Council.

His ambitions to see the young emerge had pushed him to create the Cameroonian youth of the North (Jacep); an apolitical association to reflect on the problems of young people in the northern regions.

To better reunite the youth of the sub-region, Moktar Oumarou got committed over the wires to some heads of State including that of Chad, Cameroon, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Together, they were preparing an international forum for the CEMAC youth which is scheduled for 2016.

Very eloquent in his speeches, Moktar Oumarou appeared on TV stations to defend the cause of the Cameroonian youth and especially that of his mentor Marafa Hamidou Yaya.

"The voice of the youth of the far North has died," one of his admirers, Karim regretted.
