Nkol-Anga'a records eight robbery cases in a month

Within the space of one month, eight cases of armed robbery has been registered at Nkol-Anga palace.

Last month, the people of Nkol-anga'a, located a few metres from Awae in Yaoundé district were sleepless. This suburb of the political capital in the Mefou and Afamba Department has repeatedly experienced cases of assault and armed robbery. The latest incident happened on April 26 around 3 pm.

The thugs discussed the latest case of robbery on Saturday in the home of a Maréchal de logis. The thieves allegedly took a sum of 1 million F. Cfa at the home of this police officer and almost emptied the home of this police officer. It is thanks to the intervention of some brave neighbours that some items were recovered.

Populations are not often able to retaliate against these barbaric acts. "We do not have the means for our defense. Whenever these thugs arrive, they shoot in the air to scare residents", noted Julien Evina, an inhabitant.

On April 15, the wife of a French was robbed of over 10 million F CFA. The victim was returning from Nkomo, where she manages a shop. Unknown to her she was followed by these robbers. At the entrance of the gate, the victim was robbed by thugs armed with automatic pistols and machetes.

The people of this locality still have in memory the distressed treatment last week given to Paulin, a sexagenarian. The victim was at her home when unknown assailants burst into the house. Paulin was tied up by the thugs who then emptied her home.

Pius Mbarga, the traditional leader at the 3rd degree of Nsazomo Nkol-anga at block 2 said that since March 21, eight cases have been documented.

The thieves operate day and night. Their main stronghold is the Nkol-anga'a public school. The traditional Chief, says that at the moment, non of the robbers has been apprehended.

The police intervened when the above cases of robbery were reported. As stated by the head, "Nkol-anga 'is located almost' in Yaounde, but we depend on the Borough of Mfou, whose office is located 20 km away. Regrettably, the police brigade of Nkoabang which is more than eight kilometres from Nkol-anga'a also claim they have no vehicle to patrol and embark on operations".

The people of Nkol-anga'a as a result of this believe that the creation of a brigade or a police station at home should be treated as a matter of emergency.
