New mini buses ease transport problem in Douala

Being in circulation for some time now, mini buses have come to solve the problem of transport deficit in Douala.

According to CEO of Socatur, Jean Ernest Masséna Ngalle Bibehe, seven (7) new buses will be introduced very soon.

Meanwhile, 30 new drivers have been recruited and are currently training within the structure.

For the majority of the people, this development is a big relief to many. "Movement in the city was difficult and complicated, for us when we used to take the 'cargo'. Fortunately these buses has come to ease our transport problem," explained Raphaëlla Mandeng, student at the University of Douala.

However, the CEO of Socatur reassured that 7 buses will be available this month of December, and noted that as early as January 2015, some 50 other bus, a little larger that the ones currently in circulation, are expected to serve the entire city. At the moment, the 13 cars in circulation have specific lines.

Socatur together with their partners intend to engage 500 buses in the next 3 years, with a frequency of 100 to 150 vehicles each year. "It is just a coincidence with the prohibition of movement of cargo by the prefect of Wouri." We are not there for nothing and did not even know that the administrative authority would take this step," explained Masséna Ngalle Bibehe.
