More Kumba city council staff to face dismissal

Kumba City Council Government Delegate Victor Nkelle Ngoh has announced that there will be more dismissals, in the days ahead of workers who submitted fake certificates for employment.

About 18 council staff have already been fired for submitting fake First School Leaving Certificates, FSLC, and the investigations continue.

Ngoh made this statement on March 6 in a press briefing with reporters on his six-year stewardship at the helm of the Kumba City Council.

According to the Government Delegate, he is bent on flushing out people who made their way into the City Council with doubtful qualifications as he battles to meet up with providing social amenities to a more critical population.

Ngoh averred that, in the past years, he has been focused on redirecting the city’s finances into good use by providing social amenities such as water, electricity and upgrading the Kumba Main Market which remains the largest in Anglophone Cameroon.

He averred that no Council staff will earn money which he or she does not deserve, especially considering the many projects which the Council has. He said lazy staff, who fail to improve on their productivity, are also on the firing line.

Asked if the dismissals will not have an impact on the workforce of the Council, the Government Delegate disclosed that, the Council was overstaffed.

Presenting his balance sheet, Ngoh explained that, as Kumba expands on a daily bases, the City Council has been making sure that water, electricity and light is extended to the entire community.

He further said that it is under his stewardship that the population of Fiango witnessed the clearing of a heap of dirt that cost the City Council millions. He added that the ongoing work on the River Mabungise worth hundreds of million FCFA, has not only offered jobs to youths but is going to save the people from water-borne diseases and occasional floods.

Considering his relationship with Mayors, the Government Delegate said the working atmosphere remains frank and wonderful but stated that, as concerns subventions, the law limits the City Council to give each Council FCFA 20 million.

Asked about the challenges of waste management facing the city, the Government Delegate said a solution has already been sought, but for some administrative procedures. He challenged the people of Kumba to be patient, given that the Governments’ machinery grinds slowly but surely.

After enumerating achievements, the Government Delegate, however, maintained that, if he were to leave office, he would have some regrets because financial constraints have not allowed him to transform Kumba the way he had planned, at the time of assuming office in 2009.

The 18 Council staff dismissed by joint municipal decision NO.003/2015 dated February 26, signed by the Government Delegate and Meme SDO, David Koulbout Aman include: Rebecca Ndoh Mandi, John Ekoko Enaw, Maurice Jupither Mepoup, Moses Akong Etah, Jeofry Tabi Ebot, Abel Ndeme Ndoh, Ello Etah Emba Bate, Roger Celio Fon, Frank Ngoh Ndoe, Stephen Agbor Ebot Ayuk, Nerice Okwo, Julius KpwaMua, Isaac Mboe, Jacob Ntui Egbe, John Mewanu Eyabi, Maurice Nebouo, Lydia Nso Obale and Jery Mukudi Mokwe.

Article 4 of the municipal decision demands those concerned to forfeit all entitlements.
