Moloundou population awaits election of new mayor

The town of Moloundou in the Department of Boumba-et-Ngoko, Eastern Region, has lost its mayor in the night of 3rd March. Jean Jacques Ipando spent twenty years at the head of this municipality, before being carried away by a disease in the hospital of the National Social Insurance Fund of Yaounde.

The Prefect of Boumba and Ngoko, Leonardo Bello, in accordance with law N ° 2004/018 of 22 July 2004 applicable to municipalities, notified the deputy mayor to manage the current business of the municipality, until the election of the mayor and his deputies (two).

Since then, Jean Richard Anno has assumed this interim post by law for a period of 60 days. The Prefect, Leonardo Bello explains that the election of a new municipal executive in the municipality of Moloundou will be held before May 20, according to the regulatory text. But our interlocutor said that because of the festivities related to the 43rd Day of Unity it was postponed to June 20.

In the meantime, negotiations are going well on the field in the municipal council. In this county of 25 councilors, there are already talks of a petition which was signed in April by 19 councilors. It was sent to the service of the Prefect of Boumba-et-Ngoko at Yokadouma the same month.

The petitioners expressed their support to the 1st Deputy with the desire that Jean Richard Anno ends the current mandate holder as mayor. "But anyway, things will happen by voting. And the enthusiasm is noticeable in this election," said the Prefect.
