Mbonge council treasurer adopts new revenue collection measures

The Municipal treasurer of Mbonge council, Sesekou Nkaie Moses Eyong, has recently adopted a new strategy which aims at keeping the revenue collectors of the council abreast with the modern finance system to reduce fraud.

He announced that he had made modern innovations to curb fraud amongst the revenue collectors of the council.

The treasurer disclosed that before his appointment to the council, there was haphazard collection of revenue such that most collectors were acting like contractors, whereas they were council workers.

To solve this problem, the treasurer said he instituted a system where council revenue receipts were identified with a particular stamp that bears his signature, a logo which according to him was difficult to be forged by fraudulent revenue collectors.

These measures according to him have helped to reduce high rate of fraud that existed in the council. Furthermore, it has prevented the revenue collectors in the council from fabricating fake receipts.

The treasurer attributed this success to the dynamic and collaborative nature of the mayor, who is bound to ensure transparency at the level of Mbonge council management.

Apart from this, the municipal treasurer further announced that some council workers used to receive salaries without any employment contract and thanks to his advice, they have been able to follow-up their employment order, now making them full council workers.

All in all, Sesekou Nkaie Moses disclosed that Mbonge council was faring well and that, his intensions the administrative accounts for the council in the next year far exceeds that of 2013. He said he has also ensured that council workers get their due salaries before each month elapses to enable them work with assiduity.

With the current state of affairs, the treasurer assured that all the projects outlined by the Mayor for the 2013 financial year shall have their respective funding from the council treasury as all revenue generated from the field now gets directly into the council coffers.
