Mayor donates equipment to Health Centre

The 1st Deputy Mayor of Bamendankwe, Denis Sangbong, on January 19, handed over a donation of medical equipment to the Bamendankwe Health Centre.

The equipment comprised of wheelchairs, blood pressure machines, baby weighing scales, arm pads, cartons of soap and clinical dishes.

The Chief of the Health Centre, Samuel Ndoh Neba, expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying the equipment will help improve on healthcare delivery in the Health Centre.

Neba said it was regrettable that the Bamendankwe Health Centre that was created by Government since 1978 has been abandoned to the Local Health Committee.

“For so many years, we have not received medical equipment of this magnitude, especially wheelchairs. We had only one blood pressure machine and today, I am particularly happy because the rest of the departments will, each, receive a blood pressure machine and wheelchairs, among other things that the Mayor has donated,” Neba said. He was optimistic that the number of deliveries will increase with little or no infant mortality.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Angela Fundoh said most women have suffered a lot due to the absence of wheelchairs, blood pressure machines and other vital equipment, which resulted in some women losing their babies.

“As from today, our babies are protected, but we want our Mayor to know that we need more,” Fundoh said.

Handing over the equipment, Mayor Sangbong, said, “I witnessed a sad scenario of a pregnant woman being walked into the delivery room with no facilities like wheelchair and others. Tears ran down my cheeks and that is the reason why I got my resources and support from friends to buy these medical equipment you find here today.

As a politician who campaigned here to win your votes into the Council on the CPDM ticket, we have come to fulfill that promise which we made before you.

Our Council has not got many resources, so, each and everyone can stretch a hand to help and we shouldn’t think that our individual contributions would be considered as small,” Sangbong remarked.
