Mayor Nkeng Michael vows to give Muyuka a face lift

The Mayor of Muyuka, Nkeng Michael Akamin has disclosed a strategy he says will give the municipality a new face lift.

He made the disclosure last week during the council’s first Ordinary Session convened to examine and adopt the 2013 Administrative, Management and Stores Account of the council.

Before delving into the main agenda of the meeting, the mayor took a moment to applaud the efforts of his councilors in contributions towards the wellbeing of the people of the municipality and the development of their communities.

“By your steadfastness, we were able to take a commendable move in the task of ameliorating the living standards of our population, by realizing some of the most desired and cherished projects that directly touch on the lives of members of our community.” The Mayor said.

While appreciating the SDO for Fako, Zang III, for prompt response and judicious follow-up of development projects in the municipality, he also acknowledged the relentless service rendered by former mayor, Mokoto Njie Johannes, in what he described as the “constructive cooperation he gave” during the period of transition.

In his speech, Nkeng enumerated the accomplishments of his administration thus far, stating that when all is said and done the projects he has earmarked for the council will not only boost development in Muyuka but also will give the Municipality a new face lift.

“We were able to touch sectors,” he said, in the economic, health and social development domains. In the health sector, the mayor said their action was directed towards refurbishing and supply of medical equipment to the Bavenga-Ikata Health Center.

An incinerator was equally constructed for Muyuka District Hospital. Muyuka’s first ever mortuary was also completed. He said.

The Mayor said rehabilitation and maintenance of existing streets and roads and the extension of farm to market roads to ease transportation of farm products, which remains the main economic activity of the municipality, was effectively done.

Besides constructing a block of two classrooms, 60 benches and two teachers’ tables were supplied to Government School Lilale. The council equally organized a scholarship award to benefit and appreciate pupils who distinguish themselves in final year examinations.

The council also realized the construction of a befitting ceremonial ground at Muyenge.

During presentation of the council’s 2013 Administrative, Management and Stores Account,

the mayor said, “it is through our firm commitment and enduring spirit that we chose that precious gift of a forward match towards making our municipality a land of realization of dreams.

In that regard, we were able to generate the sum of FCFA 515,818,079 of a budget estimate of FCFA 776,764,675. That represents a realization rate of 66.406%.

Recurrent revenue stood at FCFA 369,651,167, while investment revenue stood at, FCFA 119,166,912. Recurrent expenditure and investment expenditure stood at FCFA 297,860,914 and FCFA 151,913,470 respectively.

From analysis, he said, “our council thus recorded excess revenue over expenditure to the tune of FCFA 60,043,695.
