Man stabbed to death after rescuing neighbour from abuse

The victim went to rescue a young girl beaten up by her boyfriend. The drama took place on the night of Saturday, September 28, 2014 at Grand-hangar at Bonaberi district, around 11pm.

Fabrice and the rest of his family were already asleep. They had been awakened by the screams of a neighbour who knocked on the door of their house. "I heard the girl yelling, help, help. Help me. So I opened the door and Fabrice went out," said the elder sister of Fabrice. The neighbor was being beaten by her concubine.

Fabrice naturally intervened and pleaded with the guy by name Gustave Mitambo to stop beating his girlfriend, in vain. The latter threw himself rather on Fabrice and started beating him too. Residents of the neighborhood put an end to the altercation between the two men. But Gustave Mitambo returned a few minutes later with a machete.

Fabrice, heftier than Gustave Mitambo, still managed to control him. This time around, nobody saw Gustave Mitambo return with a knife in hand. After stabbing Fabrice, he fled, leaving his victim in a pool of blood. Fabrice was led to a health centre where he later died. Presently Gustave Mitambo is not found and is wanted by the police.
